‘Sadaqah Jariyah’ means continuous charity—a donation that keeps benefiting people long after it’s given. Unlike ordinary charity, which is owned and used up by the recipient, Sadaqah Jariyah is an endowment (waqf)—it cannot be sold, given away, or used outside its intended purpose, ensuring ongoing reward for the donor.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
"When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: Sadaqah Jariyah, knowledge from which others benefit, and a righteous child who prays for them"
(Muslim).
